Terms and conditions

1. Definitions

In these terms and conditions, the following words and phrases shall have the following meanings:


  • "The Company" refers to UTS Removals, the moving service provider.
  • "The Client" refers to the person or organisation engaging the Company’s services.
  • "Services" refers to the moving, packing, storage, and any other services provided by the Company as agreed in writing.


2. Booking and Payment

  • All bookings must be confirmed at least 7 days before the moving date.


  • A deposit of [10%] is required to confirm the booking, with the remaining balance to be paid upon completion of the move. Late payments may incur 5% interest per month.


  • Deposits are non-refundable once paid.


  • If a deposit is paid but a moving date has not been confirmed, we reserve the right to: 

              - Offer an alternative moving date to accommodate other scheduled work.

              - Cancel the booking if no agreement is reached on rescheduling.


  • Payment can be made via bank transfer, credit card, or cash (as agreed). If the Client fails to make payment upon completion, the Company reserves the right to delay delivery or seek legal action.


  • Please note that our standard working hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Any work required beyond these hours due to circumstances beyond our control—such as waiting for keys—will be subject to an additional charge of £25.00 per worker, per hour.


3. quotations

While we offer fixed-price quotes, we may adjust pricing or apply additional charges if:


  • The move is delayed beyond three months from the quote date.
  • Costs increase due to taxation, currency changes, or freight charges.
  • Items must be collected/delivered above the first upper floor.
  • Additional services (e.g., furniture reassembly) are required.
  • Delays beyond our control (e.g., waiting for keys) occur, charged at our standard hourly rate.
  • Property access is inadequate or unsuitable for our vehicles.
  • Parking fees or permits are required—these will be your responsibility.


Services not included in our quotations unless agreed in writing:


  • Dismantle or assemble flat-pack furniture or fittings. 
  • Disconnect or reconnect appliances or equipment. 
  • Remove or lay fitted floor coverings. 
  • Take down or re-hang curtains, blinds, or window coverings. 
  • Move storage heaters unless dismantled beforehand. 
  • Move any item that our team considers unsafe or that may cause damage. 
  • Clear driveways or access areas of snow, ice, or debris.


Subcontracting:


We may subcontract work without notice, but all terms remain applicable.


4. Cancellations & Postponements

  • The Company reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee if the Client cancels the booking:


              - More than 7 days before the move: No charge.

              - Less than 7 days before the move: 50% of the removal charge. 

              - On the moving day or after work starts: 100% of the removal charge.


5. Liability and Insurance

  • Insurance coverage applies only if stated in your quote; details are available upon request.


  • A booking is only confirmed once we provide written confirmation—quotations do not guarantee vehicle availability.


  • If stairs, lifts, doorways, or driveways require special equipment or alterations, additional charges may apply.


We are liable for loss or damage only if caused by our negligence. Our liability does not cover: 


  •  Wear and tear, gradual deterioration, or depreciation.
  • Pre-existing damage to items. 
  • Electrical or mechanical failure unless due to external impact. 
  • Owner-packed items, unless the container shows visible external damage. 


If damage occurs, we may choose to repair or replace the item. Any damage must be reported on the day of the move and confirmed in writing within 7 days.


Insurance & Claims:


  • Claims must be made within 7 days of delivery. 
  • Owner-packed items are not covered unless external damage is visible. 
  • We do not cover loss of value or depreciation for antiques or artwork.

6. Access and Parking

  • The Client must ensure that the moving site (home, office, etc.) is accessible and safe for the Company’s vehicles and equipment.
  • The Client should notify the Company if there are any access restrictions or unusual circumstances at the loading or unloading location that may affect the move.

7. Delays and Force Majeure

  • The Company will make every effort to perform services as scheduled but cannot be held liable for delays caused by factors outside of its control, including but not limited to traffic, weather conditions, or issues related to third-party service providers.
  • In case of unforeseen circumstances (force majeure), the Company reserves the right to reschedule or cancel the move without penalty.

8. Client Responsibilities

  • The Client must ensure that all items to be moved are packed and ready for transport by the scheduled moving time. The Company reserves the right to refuse to move any items deemed unsafe, hazardous, or illegal.
  • The Client is responsible for ensuring that all necessary arrangements are made for moving large or delicate items (such as pianos, artwork, and fragile furniture) that may require special handling, unless stated otherwise for UTS Removals to do. 
  • If the Client is unavailable or does not make arrangements for access at the scheduled time, the Company reserves the right to charge an additional fee for rescheduling or for delays caused by the Client’s unavailability.


By signing this agreement, you confirm your acceptance that the following items will not be transported unless agreed in writing:


  • Jewellery, cash, valuables, or collectibles (e.g., coins, watches, securities).
  • Perishable goods (e.g., refrigerated or frozen food).
  • Live animals, pets, or plants.
  • Vehicles (e.g., cars, boats, caravans) unless pre-arranged.


  • If any of these items are included without prior agreement, we accept no liability for loss or damage.


It is your responsibility to:


  • Declare the true value of your belongings. 
  • Obtain all necessary documents for the move. 
  • Be present (or assign a representative) to ensure correct removal of all items. 
  • Properly prepare appliances before transport. 
  • Cover any parking fees or permit costs required for the move. 
  • Defrost refrigerators/freezers before the move (do not switch them on immediately; wait 24 hours after delivery). 
  • Disconnect and drain washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers before removal day. 
  • Provide accurate contact details during transit and storage. 
  • Pack your items securely if self-packing (we do not cover owner-packed items under our insurance).


By entering this contract, you confirm that: 


  • The goods are your property, or 
  • You have authorization from the owner to move them.


If this is later found to be false, you will be liable for any damages or legal claims.

9. Storage Services

  • For clients utilizing the Company’s storage services, items will be securely stored in the Company’s facility for the agreed period. Storage fees will be billed in advance and must be paid on time.
  • The Company will not be held responsible for any damage to items during storage unless caused by the Company’s negligence.
  • Items stored after the agreed storage period may incur a 28 day period charge. 

10. Confidentiality and Privacy

  • The Company respects the privacy of the Client’s information. Personal details will only be used for the purpose of providing services and will not be shared with third parties without prior consent, except as required by law.

11. Complaints

In the event of a complaint, the Client must inform the Company as soon as possible. We will investigate the matter and take appropriate action to resolve it in a timely manner.


12. Acceptance of Terms

  • This contract is governed by the laws of England and Wales.


  • By booking the services of UTS Removals, the Client acknowledges and agrees to these Terms and Conditions.
